Isn’t so much about life looking for our path? Looking for clues in life that we’re on track
with where we think we should be? Am I early, late, behind or just off track? Practicing
mindfulness can help us find our center and clarity. Just by being in the present helps us
trim off the static that interferes with clear thought.
One tool for practicing mindfulness is to light a candle and look at it. Don’t judge the
experience just see how long you can focus your attention on the flicker of light. If your
thoughts wander, gently bring them back into focus by noticing the candle-the light,
heat, and scent.
Like lighting a candle in the dark, a daily mindfulness practice allows us to train the
brain to find comfort in the stillness. Serenity precedes insight and insight precedes
wisdom-to find the path that is best for us.
